Repairing hibernated Windows XP Mode

It just said “‘Windows XP Mode’ could not be restored because either host processor type mismatch or lack of hardware-assisted virtualization support in the system.”

 

 

The problem happends when windows can not find the hibernate file,

If you open this file up with notepad,

C:\Users\msouthgate\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vmc

The path will be different depending on your username.

Search for the following, The file is made up in xml format




C:\Users\msouthgate\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vsv
.\Windows XP Mode.vsv



Remove every thing inside the and the

Save the file and then your xp mode will start up.
